Iranian authorities detain Ahwazi poet, lead him to unknown destination

Iranian security and intelligence personnel have arrested an Ahwazi poet, named Abdullah Mohsen Silwawi, at dawn on January 24^th in the capital city of Ahwaz, informed sources told Ahwazna.

He was led to an unknown destination.

Silwawi is 25 years old. He resides in the capital city of Ahwaz. He wrote several poems defending the Arab identity of Ahwaz in the face of the fierce attack aimed to obliterate it, according to activists.

He always recited these poems at weddings and Ahwazi gatherings.

This comes amid a heavy crackdown targeting activists in Ahwaz. This crackdown is aimed to spread intimidation throughout the Ahwazi society.
